RNC Information

Security Perimeter Time Period — July 14 @ 8:00am - July 19 @ 1:00am

This page is meant to inform all Milwaukee Rowing Club members about how to access our boathouse and the maritime restrictions throughout the duration of the week of the RNC. We have acquired this information through meeting with the Secret Service, receiving regular emails from decision makers, and accessing public information. Any necessary updates will be posted on this webpage.

On the Water

No shells, crews, launches, vessels will be permitted beyond the Cherry St Bridge beginning on July 14th at 8:00am and ending on July 19th at 1:00am. No commercial or recreational vessel traffic will be permitted on the Milwaukee River between Cherry St and Michigan St throughout that time period.

Anyone or any teams rowing on the water throughout the listed time period MUST stay between Cherry St and Humboldt Ave.

Spin well before the Cherry St bridge and row only in the area highlighted in green on the map. Be cautious of the barges/construction located at the Holton St Bridge.

Navigating the Roads

Vehicle Screening Perimeter Enforcement - Begins Monday @ 2:00am

Depending on your regular drive to the boathouse, you may need to change your route to accommodate the security zones. See the RNC Public Access Map for more information.

Exiting the interstate at McKinley Ave will not be possible. For example, if you are coming from the south, you will need to exit at North Ave and approach the boathouse from Humboldt Ave/Commerce St

You will need to completely avoid the “hard security zone” which is highlighted in red and requires credentials to enter. Additionally, you should avoid the “vehicle screening perimeter” (highlighted in yellow).
