Milwaukee Rowing Club – Youth Men’s Head Coach

The Milwaukee Rowing Club is seeking a Men’s Head Coach for our Youth program. We are looking for a passionate individual to continue to move the club forward at a national level, create a positive and competitive atmosphere for young athletes to thrive, and to support the Executive Director in running the program. The coach will have a strong understanding the fundamentals of the stroke, technique, strategy and training. They should have a strong ability to teach these concepts and develop athletes from a broad range of rowing capacity – beginner to experienced. The candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse population, conduct safe practices, uphold the values of the club, and can work in collaborative and cohesive environment. They embody MRC’s mission by exemplifying sportsmanship and respect for all individuals, and also by fostering leadership, team spirit and a strong sense of community.

Minimum Qualifications:

-        At least 4 years of experience in the sport of rowing

-        Ability to attend all practices and regattas as required

-        Must pass a background check

-        SafeSport certification (certification required prior to working with athletes)

-        Competent driving a safety launch. Wisconsin boaters’ safety course (can obtain upon joining the staff – within 1 month of hire)

-        CPR certification (within 1 month of hire)

Milwaukee Rowing Club – Competitive Youth Program:

The Milwaukee Rowing Club High School program consists of 80+ athletes from throughout the Milwaukee area. Since 2021, our highly competitive program has had sixteen crews compete at the National Championships. Primarily rowing in 8’s and 4’s our youth program has solidified itself as a top program in the nation. Our athletes compete in local regattas as well as races in Boston, Oak Ridge, Chattanooga and other areas. The MRC youth programs have performed well over recent years bringing home medals from Head of the Hooch, Midwest Championships, and Dogwood Championships.

Additional Opportunities:

Candidates who are interested in maximizing their opportunities within the club will have the option to coach with our Middle School and/or Adult Rowing Programs. Our middle school and adult teams practice outside of our high school time frame allowing for additional hours for our staff. Individuals working with the middle school program would be teaching the fundamentals of the sport with a focus on creating a fun, creative, team-oriented environment. Individuals working with our adult program will be responsible for coaching a broad range of ages and experience levels. The Milwaukee Rowing Club offers competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience and availability.

Milwaukee Rowing Club – Youth Assistant Coaches

The Milwaukee Rowing Club is seeking Assistant Coaches for our Youth program. This coach will work closely with the Head Coach in all aspects of running the team. The coach will teach the fundamentals of the stroke, technique, strategy and training. They will work with the Novice athletes in addition to assisting and developing a strong U17 and Varsity squad. The candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse population, conduct safe practices, uphold the values of the club, and can work in collaborative and cohesive environment. They embody MRC’s mission by exemplifying sportsmanship and respect for all individuals, and also by fostering leadership, team spirit and a strong sense of community.
